The Story

Original Item. Only One Available. This is a stellar paneled brass powder flask manufactured by G. & J.W. Hawksley-Sheffield. George and John Williams, brothers are recorded as opening the company of G & JW Hawksley on the early 9th century, 1840. They did not make arms, but accouterments. Beyond this they specialized in gun powder flasks and silver flasks.

The flask is marked on the cap G. & J.W. HAWKSLEY SHEFFIELD. The cap screws on and off perfectly with no issue. The lever is unfortunately off of its spring and loose. There is no powder remaining in the flask. This example dates to the Civil War period, but was likely meant as a hunting flask given the depiction. A very beautiful flask that will fit well into any Civil War or 19th Century firearm collection! The flask measures roughly 7¾” in length.
