The Story

Original Item: Only One Available. Now this is a lovely example of a late Victorian era police “Bobby” billy club truncheon. The club itself is beautifully painted with a royal crown over the I VR cypher of Queen Victoria, denoting her reign from 1837 to 1901. Around this is the belt reading WICKHAM SKEITH for the village of Wickham Skeith, Suffolk, England. It does have a beautiful matured look to it with signs of use but is presented without any extensive damage. The top of this example has a lovely painted sun.

The village of Wickham Skeith has a population of 321 as of 2011, but had 564 residents in the 1870s, when this is likely from. We cannot imagine that the village would have had an extensive police force, but this certainly warrants further research!

The truncheon measures 11 3/4” long and has an overall gorgeous patina.

A fantastic example, ready for further research and display.
