The Story

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a good example of an early "Third Pattern" British Fairbairn-Sykes commando dagger, with a brass handle and original scabbard. As brass was a "strategic material," only the early examples of the third pattern have brass handles, with later war produced models having blacked alloy handles. The knives varied somewhat in size, and this example measures 11½", with a 6¾ inch blade. This example comes with the standard belt scabbard, but is missing the tongue.
The condition of the knife is good, still with relatively sharp edges, and a good amount of the original black finish on the blade. The plain blued steel cross guard is tight on the blade with no wobble and some minor surface oxidation and little to none of the original finish. It is marked on the underside of the crossguard with the standard ENGLAND stamping which was done for exportation purposes.
The scabbard is in fair condition, with the expected wear from being used in service. The tongue is completely absent and the elastic band was re-sewn to the bottom of the tongue, but is still ripped on one side. The brass chape is still present.
An increasingly hard-to-find knife that would fit into any British WWII collection.
Dimensions:
Blade length: 6⅞”
Blade Style: Spear Point Knife
Overall length: 11½”
Crossguard: 2”
Sheath Length: 8 3/4”
