Original British WWII Private Purchase Dagger by “Eye” Taylor Witness of Sheffield England with Custom Engravings and Leather Belt Sheath - Popular Among U.S. Soldiers

Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a great British private purchase  “EYE WITNESS” brand fighting dagger made by Taylor Cutlery in Sheffield, UK. Taylor had always made a quality product; their daggers were very popular with the British and American servicemen stationed in the UK during the war. Many British and American servicemen used these fine fighters in every combat theater in Europe, North Africa and in the Middle East.

This example has great custom floral engravings to the crossguard and pommel. The blade measures roughly 6⅞” and is marked to one side:

This dagger is slightly used, with very minor oxidation in spots. The blade is razor-sharp still; the tip is intact; the famous “eye” company logo on one side of the blade is crisp and clear. The grip has stacked leather washers with brass and black/red fiber spacers at the ends. The mushroom-style pommel is beautifully-engraved with floral patterns, all hand-done. The crossguard has similar engravings. The overall length is 11½”.

The leather belt sheath is the correct style used by this maker, the securing strap and snap are in great order, and the leather is still pliable. It measures 11 ¾” with the belt loop.
