Original Canadian WWI CEF M1902 Service Dress Tunic with Collar Insignia & Name - J. Harris, Regimental Number 16755

Original Item. Only One Available. Originally introduced in 1902, the British Other Ranks five-button Service Dress (SD) jacket shared some common features with the Canadian seven-button SD jacket such as removable Corps shoulder straps and a restricted fit. By 1907 the five-button SD jacket had matured into the recognizable garment that the British Expeditionary Force was wearing as they marched towards destiny in 1914. 

This is a fantastic Canadian-issued British M1902 Service Dress tunic worn by a member of the Canadian Expeditionary Forces during World War I. The jacket bears a five-button front closure with Canadian Expeditionary Forces buttons all marked UNITED CARR CANADA and collar insignia for the CEF. There is moderate wear across but nothing serious, this would be a great representative example for any WWI collection.

The interior of the uniform bears several stamps including the written name HARRIS over number 16755. Then the name J HARRIS is stamped next to the same number, 16755. This is supposedly the regimental number and name of the soldier, but we were not able to identify the soldier based off of this information. A possible research project for someone.
