This is an outstanding painted softball used by the 106th Canadian Coast Battery, Royal Canadian Artillery, who were the 1944 Champions of the Botwoob (Botwood) Area in Newfoundland. The softball is faintly marked with the Spalding logo along with K of C which would denote the Knights of Columbus which is active in Canada.
The baseball is also marked with the V …- (dot, dot, dot, dash) symbol, which became one of the most recognizable identifiers of the Allied war effort, and could be found on countless kinds of consumer goods.
There are 14 names signed on the ball in a fantastic style with black overlaying red ink.
