The Story

Original Items. Only One Set Available. The SKS is a semi-automatic rifle designed by Soviet small arms designer Sergei Gavrilovich Simonov in 1945. The SKS was first produced in the Soviet Union but was later widely exported and manufactured by various nations. Its distinguishing characteristics include a permanently attached folding bayonet and a hinged, fixed magazine. As the SKS lacked select-fire capability and its magazine was limited to ten rounds, it was rendered obsolete in the Soviet Armed Forces by the introduction of the AK-47 in the 1950s. Nevertheless, SKS carbines continued to see service with the Soviet Border Troops, Internal Troops, and second-line and reserve army units for decades.

This is a great set of four training aid posters produced by China for use by troops during the Cold War. The top of each poster translates to Wall Chart of the 1956 Model 7.62mm semi-automatic rifle. The top right of each has a catalog marking (Total 5 Pictures) No. 4. That means this was originally a 5 poster set, but only four now remain. The posters are numbered 2, 3, 4, and 5, so poster 1 is missing.

The bottom right of each poster is dated February 1978, dating them to the post-Vietnam War era. The bottom of each translates to Armament Department of the General Logistics Department of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.

Some of the posters have heavy edge tearing but all four are in overall good condition. This would be a great set to have framed.

A lovely set of Chinese SKS training posters, ready for further research and display.
