Original Danish Krag–Jørgensen M1889/93 Knife Bayonet for Gevær M/89 Rifle with Scabbard - Dated 1911

Original Item. Only One available. This is quite rare, and is a very nice example of a Danish Model 1889/93 Bayonet, intended for use on the Krag–Jørgensen Gevær M/1889 Rifle. The original Model 1889 bayonet featured a checkered leather grip but was improved in 1893 with this version having a wood grips secured by brass rivets. The bayonet is 13 3/4 inches overall, with a 9 inches long single edged fullered blade. The design is somewhat interesting, with a a triangular lever on the pommel of the bayonet moving the bayonet lock.

This very nice example is marked on the ricasso with HÆRENS / TØJHUS, for manufacture at the "Army Arsenal" in Copenhagen. The minimal crossguard is marked CROWN / 11, probably for manufacture or acceptance in 1911. There are additional markings on either side of the pommel: 7B713 (struck through) over 42B730 on one side, and 81108 on the other.

The bayonet and matching scabbard are in very good used condition, without any major issues or defects. The blade is nice, and has not been sharpened, tough there is some past pitting, which has been ground out. There are no major nicks or dents, and the grips are nicely broken in. The scabbard has solid leather, though it has shrunk and is now hard, so the scabbard no longer locks onto the bayonet.

A very nice example of a rare bayonet, ready to display!
