The Story

Original Item: Only One Available: Here we have a very nice example of a Finnish Model 1928 Bayonet & Scabbard, which were used with the Finnish M/27 Mosin-Nagant rifle. This was the primary service rifle of Finland during the WWII period, and was the main rifle used during both the first "Winter War" and the later "Continuation War". This bayonet is identical to the M1927 bayonets, the only real difference being a “parade” like appearance; bright polish/finish and appealing grip scales which in this case is a lovely light colored Wood. There is some damage to one of the grips in the middle.

Like most that we have seen, it was made by FISKARS in Finland. Fiskars Group (also known as Fiskars Oyj Abp or Fiskars Corporation, and until 1998 as Fiskars Oy Ab) is a Finnish group company. The company has its roots in the village of Fiskars (in the town of Raseborg, about 100 kilometres (62 mi) west of Helsinki), where it was founded in 1649. The oldest business still operating in Finland, its global headquarters are in Keilaniemi, Espoo, Finland. It is one of the oldest companies in the world.

The company has operated in various sectors over the decades. Fiskars was formerly best known for its orange-handled scissors, which were created in 1967. More than one billion were sold by 2010. In 2023, its products related to the home, outdoor activities, interior decoration and table setting. Its key brands today include Fiskars, Iittala, Royal Copenhagen, Wedgwood and Waterford.

The blade is in fair condition, though it does show heavy sharpening and cleaning, as well as some past pitting. The sharpening appears to have worn down the blade a bit. The hilt is in great shape. The grip scales are in good shape with no extensive damage present. The scabbard is in very good shape, with minor dents and some finish wear. The green paint is well-retained in spots, and the two fullers on each side are retained.

A very nice example, perfect to go with your WWII Finnish M/27 Mosin-Nagant rifle!
