Original Item. Only One Available. This is a gorgeous example of a WWI-inspired desk display of a French Renault FT light tank climbing a trench, with a still-rotating turret! This is a design we have seen a couple of times before, but this example has a plaque to the front reading:
Souvenir du 502 R.C.C.
The 502nd Tank Regiment (or 502nd Regiment de chars de combat) was a French Army tank unit. It fought during the First World War and was disbanded at the beginning of the Second. It was formed on June 5th, 1918, and saw heavy combat in the final months of the war. What an outstanding artifact to have attributed to this regiment!
The set is complete with a French Armored Adrian helmet on the front side, which is hinged to hide the inkwell underneath, which is now missing, but that doesn’t affect the displayability. The bottom of the piece is maker-marked:
RICHER. PARIS. DEPOSE
MADE IN FRANCE
This would denote the maker in Paris. The entire piece measures 7 x 4 x 4” and is in great working condition despite missing the inkwell. These sets usually have an infantry helmet, so it’s a rare treat to find one with an Armored helmet. The tank is also incredibly detailed, when most of these are typical one-piece cast, this one has hollow treads and a moving turret!
A really phenomenal inkwell set that will fit perfectly on your desk or in your collection! Comes ready for further research and display!
