Original Item. Only One Available. This wool uniform tunic & trouser set is in lovely, field used condition with a great period Armor badge over the right breast pocket. The Armored Tanker buttons still retain much of their original finish and all appear to be present. The tunic appears as “rough” but you have to keep in mind that the French, as well as the rest of the world, had fought a long and brutish war in their backyards. Resupplies were cut off, ambushes and attacks were always present and they were unable to acquire new items so the soldiers would have to repair and reuse what they already had, and this is a great example of that.
The jacket has a single gold stripe on each cuff, denoting the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. The collar has been fitted with reproduction tabs reading 502, which would denote the 502nd Armored regiment. They are not original to the uniform.
The interior has good honest wear and the collar has a three snap closure in good shape.
The included breeches are in good condition with a single black stripe going down their length to each side. The bottoms still retain their laces and buttons, and the tightening belt to the waist is in good order.
The interior shows good period wear with interior pockets and no markings we could find. This is an outstanding Tank Corps lieutenant’s uniform, ready for further research and display!
