Original French WWI Model 1914 OF1 Egg Hand Grenade circa 1915 - 1917 - Inert

Original Item: Only One Available. Totally inert and demilitarized according to BATF guidelines with hollow body and inert fuse. This grenade cannot be converted to an explosive device and is not available for export.

This is a very nice French WWI Model 1914 OF1 Egg Hand Grenade, offered in great condition with the original fuze and spoon fully intact. There is very little paint left with chipping and oxidation as shown.

Known officially as the offensive n°1 (OF1), these grenades were manufactured between 1915 and 1917. The detonator would be screwed inside the upper hemisphere, whose complex forming needed that part to be stamped in a higher quality thin plate, while the lower cap could be made in a more common grade thin plate. They featured a bursting radius of 38 feet.

This example is offered totally inert with a deactivated fuse and all explosives removed per BATF specifications. It does have some corrosion, but nothing terribly serious. A great example overall, and a perfect addition to any Great War Collection.
