Original Item. Only One Available. France uses the rank of "brigade general" (général de brigade). The rank contrasts with the French sub-officer rank of brigadier. As with all French general officers, a French brigade general is titled "general" without any implication that he is an army general; for instance General Charles de Gaulle never rose higher than brigade general.
This is a very scarce French WWII Kepi for a Brigade General, as indicated by the two star devices to the front. Below these is a gorgeous bullion-embroidered chinstrap held in by two gilt General Officer’s buttons. The exterior is in great condition although there are some nips in the fabric to the side.
The interior shows a well-retained leather sweatband with great stitching, and an olive green lining. There is no maker mark we can find. There is however a set of initials on the bottom of the visor, A.J.N, which could be a good research project.
An outstanding kepi, the second French General’s kepi we’ve ever had! Ready for further research and display.
