Original German Pre - WWII Large Tinnie Event Badge Grouping with Italian-German Africa Medal - 24 Items

Original Items: Only One Set Available. This is a very nice collection of German WWII Tinnie Event Badges with an Italian-German Africa Medal, brought back from the European theater by a USGI after the war was concluded. Many solders traded these on the way back, and would end up with a pocket full of various examples, and this set represents the typical "haul" one might have come back with.

This lovely set includes:

- One Italian-German WWII African Campaign Medal with Ribbon. This is in very good condition, with the bronze wash still fully intact, and a great condition ribbon. This looks to be an unissued example, and still retains the original bronze finish on the medal at over 90%.

- One 19th Century NAPOLEON III LE MISERABLE satirical coin, issued after his capture at Sedan during the Franco-Prussian war.

- One German Pre WWII 1939 REICHSPARTEITAG Nuremberg Ralley tinnie, aluminum or aluminized composition material. It is maker marked and RZM coded on the back.

- One German Pre-WWII WHW SACHSEN shield shaped tinnie showing the Saxony coat of arms.

- One German WWII Small Plastic Reichskriegsflagge Battle Standard Flag.

- One German WWII Small Plastic Troop Flag of the 1st Battalion of of the Regiment "General Göring". This would eventually evolve into the Fallschirm-Panzer-Division 1. Hermann Göring. The back is marked REGIMENT GENERAL GÖRING 11 BA.

- One German Pre WWII 1937 HJ National Youth Organization Donation tinnie.

"Tinnies" (Veranstaltungsabzeichen - Event Badges) are small commemorative pins or medals, acquired when one attended a specific event held in Germany. They were often made of thin stamped metal, bakelite, or even pressed paper. Many of these were given out as part of the WHW (Winterhilfswerk - Winter Help Work) Organization, which often involved Germans traveling quite a bit to help out the war effort. Many others were given for the annual Reichsparteitag (Reich Party Congress), otherwise known as the Nuremberg Rallies.

Italian-German WWII African Campaign Medal
Awarded to soldiers of the Wehrmacht and Italian troops who worked together in the North African theater of war. The round award is constructed out of a die struck tombak base that has been bronze washed. The obverse of the award features two gladiators fighting together to keep a crocodiles jaws closed. Beside the gladiators it is written "Lorioli Milano" (manufacturing company and location) below them it is written "De Marchis" (the designer of the award). The reverse features the Arch of Fileni, above the Savoy knot and inside of a fasces (left) and a static swas (right), which is all surrounded by "Campagna Italo Tedesca in Africa - Italienisch Deutscher Feldzug in Afrika" (Medal for the Italian-German campaign in Africa (in both German and Italian)).
