The Story

Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a very interesting German knife of the World War I era manufactured by Anton Wingen Jr. of Solingen, and later captured & modified by an American soldier during World War II.

The knife has a 5½” blade which is faintly marked:

ANTON WINGEN JR.
FABRIK FEINEN STAHLWAREN
SOLINGEN

The blade has likely been sharpened by the soldier who captured it. The stag handle is still well-retained with service-wear. The pommel of the knife has a U.S. WWII Collar disc attached and vaulted, which is still held on strong.

The original scabbard appears custom and has hand-cut belt loops. The leather retaining strap is still in place.

A very nice example of a captured knife, ready for further research and display.

Specifications:
Blade Length: 5 1/2"
Overall length: 11 5/8“
Scabbard length: 7 ¼”
