Original Items: Only One Set Available. Here we have a lovely set of Luftwaffe Barracks Utensils, all made of aluminum except for the stainless steel blades on the knives. All of the items have the Luftwaffe Eagle on the end of the handles, while the reverse side of the handles on most are all marked with the trademark "Four Leaf Clover" logo of W. Seibel, Besteckfabrik (cutlery factory) in Mettmann, Rheinland, a known maker of German WWII cutlery. It is not stamped on the handles of the knives, however the blades themselves have the clover logo, over ROSTFREI, the German word for stainless steel. Additionally, the rears of all handles are marked with the firms initials W.S.M. over 40, for 1940 manufacture. The other marking on the back of all the utensils is Fl.U.V., for Flieger Unterkunft Verwaltung, or the Flight Barracks Administration, the agency responsible for Luftwaffe accommodations.
The utensils are all in very good condition, with the aluminum portions showing more wear due to the softer material. The blades on the knives are still relatively sharp and unbent, with the original factory final polish cross grain very well retained. They look to have seen use during the war, but were well cared for, and have been for the decades after they were brought back.
The items in this set are:
- 13 Aluminum Dinner Forks.
- 5 Aluminum Serving Spoons
- 2 Aluminum Handled Knives with Stainless Steel Blades
- 1 Aluminum Gravy Ladle
A great set that would be welcome in any German WWII Luftwaffe Collection!
