The Story

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice "battlefield pickup" condition German WWII 1st Class with Oak Leaves Civil Service Faithful Service medal, a special class given for 50 years of service. It comes with its original ribbon, which is definitely degraded, showing overall deterioration, and still shows a good amount of worn in dirt. This definitely looks like it was sitting on the ground for a good amount of time before being picked up by a USGI.

The medal is in patinated condition, with some more serious corrosion to the front of the lower arm of the cross, which also shows some rust staining from other items it was in contact with. We can still see that the cross is the correct silver color, while the oak leaf wreath is gold, as is the number 50 at the top of the award. The ribbon is in very delicate condition, and sheds fibers readily, so it should be handled with care.

A lovely "battlefield pickup" example of a hard to find 50 Year service medal, ready to display!

The Civil Service Faithful Service Medal (Treudienst-Ehrenzeichen für Beamte Angestellte und Arbeiter im öffentlichen Dienst) was a NSDAP Germany medal of honor that was founded on 30 January 1938, in two grades, to reward civilians and military in the employ of the German public services for long and faithful service.

All officials, employees, and laborers at any level of the public service (local, regional or national) who complete 25 or 40 years service were eligible. The second class award was for 25 years of service was a silver cross, with a silver wreath and a black enameled swas in the center of the cross. The first class award was for 40 years of service was a gold cross, with a gold wreath and a black enameled swas in the center of the cross.

The first class award with oakleaves, for 50 years of service, featured a silver cross, with a gold wreath and black enameled swastika to the center.

The reverse of all classes was stamped with Für treue Dienste (For faithful Services). in German black letter typeface. The ribbon for the medal is cornflower blue.
