Original German WWII Beaded M40 NSDAP Double Decal Civic Police Steel Helmet Shell - Stamped NS64

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice and somewhat rare genuine steel construction M40 "Beaded" Third Reich helmet shell, outfitted for German WWII civic police issue. These helmets were essentially like the Military issue, however the steel was not as high quality. They were given a "bead" around the edge, to avoid mixing them up with the military version. This helmet definitely has the bead, though it is a bit more subtle than we often see. The helmet shell features genuine double decals of civic eagle and NSDAP swas.

The exterior of this German helmet retains most of the original black paint, with light overall wear such as small chips and scratches. There is some wear through around the rim, as well as some small scuff marks, either from service or storage. The NSDAP shield decal is about 80% complete, missing one corner due to the vent, and the civic eagle is about 80%, showing wear and deterioration and the upper right corner missing. They both have a great age toned look from the enamel top coat yellowing over time.

The reverse, interior, neck guard apron is lot number stamped E1 and the interior, left side, apron has the stamped manufacturer's code and size N.S.64, indicating that it was manufactured by Vereinigte Deutsche Nikelwerke, of Schwerte, Germany. Size 64 is a nice medium size that can accommodate liners from 56cm to 57cm or US 7 to 7 1/8. Size 64 shells are harder to find and are therefore more valuable to a collector.

Overall a great opportunity to get a lovely example of a German WWII Civic issue beaded M40 helmet shell, used by the Civic Police. Ready to display!
