The Story
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely German WWII period porcelain gravy boat with integral plate, measuring 7 inches across by 3 3/4 inches high. It is plane glazed white porcelain with a red border around the bottom plate, and has spouts on both sides for pouring. It does show some wear from use in service, so this is an item that was really used during the war. The bottom is marked with the maker logo of Rosenthal of Selb, a known Bavarian maker of fine porcelain that exists even today.
It is also however marked with the DAF logo on the bottom, indicating that the factory was run under the authority of the German Labor Front, which had replaced all unions during the NSDAP period. This marking reads:
MODELL DES AMTES
(DAF Cog Wheel Logo)
SCHÖNHEIT DER ARBEIT
There are no chips or major deficiencies, and this would make a great part of any German WWII collection.
