Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely set of genuine WWII German DAF National Labor Front marked steel utensils, consisting of a knife, fork, soup spoon, and tea spoon. These were used in factory mess halls during the third reich period, when the DAF supplanted all of the trade organizations, unions, and similar organizations.
All of the utensils in the set are constructed of magnetic stainless steel and on the back, they are stamped with the DAF cogwheel logo above M·D·A for Modell des Amtes (Model of the Office) and Sch·d·A for Schönheit des Arbeit (Beauty of Labor). They are also all marked ROSTFREI, indicating stainless steel construction. The fork has a maker mark of an Anchor inside a circle, while the other three items have what looks like a Caduceus on a shield, however there is only one snake around the staff.
All utensils are in very good service used condition, with the knife still showing some of the original factory final polish grind crossgrain. This would make the perfect addition to any German WWII cutlery collection. Ready to research and display!
With the dissolution of all Free Trade Unions in Germany in May 1933 the Deutsche Arbeitsfront, (German Labor Front), was established to replace the unions and to educate the workers in industry and commerce for smooth and efficient operation of all labor in the Third Reich. In October 1934 the DAF was given official status as a sub-section of the NSDAP and in March 1936 it was recognized as an independent NSDAP affiliated association and granted control of its own monetary budget. With this money it was able to procure its own signs and other insignia.
