Original Item: One of a Kind. This is a great identification and record pamphlet / book from the German National League for Physical Exercise (Deustcher Reichsbund fĂŒr LeibesĂŒbungen - DRL). After the 1938 annexation of Austria, the group would be renamed the National Socialist League of the Reich for Physical Exercise (German: Nationalsozialistischer Reichsbund fĂŒr LeibesĂŒbungen, abbreviated NSRL). The booklet measures 5 3/8" x 8 5/8", and is embossed on the front with the design of the DRL sports badge. The first page is blank, with page 2 showing a picture of the owner Hans Landner, along with stamps from BAYREUTH Germany. He looks to be wearing an SA uniform, and on page 3 there is an award document for receiving the DRL sports badge on Bronze, with a stamp dated 17. JUN. 1938.
Pages 4-11 of the booklet deal with the workings of the DRL organization, and on pages 12-14 there is information on the various grades of exams that Landner passed. They were not passed in order, so we assume they are different types of sports exams, and they were probably given at an assigned time. Page 15 has an additional award document for the Bronze Sports badge, including the issue number, and the remaining pages are information on the different chapters of the organization.
A lovely piece of Third Reich memorabilia, more than ready for further research!
The National Socialist League of the Reich for Physical Exercise (German: Nationalsozialistischer Reichsbund fĂŒr LeibesĂŒbungen, abbreviated NSRL), was the umbrella organization for sports and physical education in NSDAP Germany. The NSRL was known as the German League of the Reich for Physical Exercise (German: Deutscher Reichsbund fĂŒr LeibesĂŒbungen, abbreviated DRL) until 1938. The organization was expanded to Austria after that country's annexation by NSDAP Germany.
The NSRL was led by the ReichssportfĂŒhrer, who after 1934 was at the same time presiding over the German National Olympic Committee. The NSRL's leaders were Hans von Tschammer und Osten (1933â1943), Arno Breitmeyer (1943â1944) and Karl Ritter von Halt (1944â1945).
