Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very interesting example of the highly desirable German WWII "Panzer Wrap", or "Wrapper" tunic, a form fitting design made to fit nicely when inside an armored vehicle. These were originally made in Black, or field gray for assault gun soldiers, however this fantastic example was made by a unit or depot tailor from the same double sided Army Splinter Pattern (Heeres Splittermuster 31) fabric used to make Zeltbahn Poncho / Tent Quarter. These utilize a water repellent material called Makostoff, so this would have been a great thing to have during warm and wet conditions.
The wrap tunic shows a very high level of construction, with a front closure featuring a single interior button and three hidden exterior buttons, the bottom of which is missing. There are no external pockets, but there is a large internal pocket inside the left chest. For insignia, the right breast has a 1939 pattern panzer breast eagle, BeVO embroidered with gray threading on a black background. There are also fabric loops and buttons on the shoulders for the attachment of schulterklappen (shoulder straps) rank and branch insignia, however none are in stalled.
The wrapper shows wear from service, with some small repairs as well as some small stains and holes. Some of the buttons look to have been reattached, which would not be uncommon during the war. We checked the tunic thoroughly, and did not nice any reaction to a UV light.
A lovely custom made camouflage panzer wrapper, ready to research and display!
