Original Items. Only One Lot Available. During World War Two there was a mass of teaching materials used by the armed forces to train gunners and aircrew in the identification of aircraft, ships and ground vehicles. The ability of servicemen to identify "friend or foe" in an instant was crucial to combat survival and the subject of recognition was taught in just about every World War II service school. Even Germany created models like these to aid in identification. “Recognition Models” (also known as “ID” or “spotter” models) were seen as critical to the war effort. Some were detailed for use in educational films or for marking identification.
This is a great lot of nine Wiking models of German Luftwaffe planes made for recognition training. They include:
- FW200
- HE177
- DO217
- ME109F
- HE111
- HS129
- JU90 (back fins damaged)
- JU188
- FW190
All are in fair condition minus the JU90 which has some damage as shown. Each plane is marked with the WW logo of the German company Wiking who manufactured these. They vary in size from 1 ¾ x 2” to 4 ½ x 6 ⅜”.
A great lot of recognition models, ready for further research and display.
