The Story

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely BeVo style machine embroidered Wehrmachtadler breast eagle from a German WWII Heer (Army) Enlisted Man's or NCO's M36 Wool Tunic. The eagle is the rarer 1939 pattern, with a flaschengrün (dark bottle-green) background and gray thread embroidered eagle. In 1940 the background color would change to a lighter green. These were worn on the breast of the uniform tunic, just above and partly on the pocket.

This example was cut off a uniform, complete with some surrounding fabric, and definitely looks to have been a "rush job" due to how rough the cutting is. The insignia is about 3 7/8" x 1 5/8", with the uniform section measuring approximately 4 1/4" x 2". The fabric is the correct feldgrau square weave used on the M36, and it is attached with the correct stitching. There is moth damage to the uniform section as well, though it is mostly just the surface fuzzy "nap".

A very nice example of a German WWII "Cut Off" eagle, ready to display!
