Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice service used set of German WWII Heer Army mounted breeches, sometimes called 'Jodhpurs' or 'riding pants'. They were meant to wear with the tall jackboots, and have an unmistakable silhouette. While they are often associated with officers, they could also be worn by enlisted and NCO personnel. This set is in the correct steingrau (stone gray) wool, and looks to have seen a good amount of use during the war. The bottoms of the legs have brushed cotton extensions for going inside the boots, which do show wear, and there are also scattered moth holes.
The inside has whit canvas partial lining, which is marked on the inner right side with the original size and maker markings:
80 96
H 38
114 110
This would indicate processing through the Hamburg clothing depot during the war in 1938. There is a maker marking stamped in blue to the right of the size markings, however we are not able to read them at all.
The breeches have a button fly front closure with four "hidden" buttons with a larger above that. The tightening buckle is well-retained on the back of the breeches, stamped PRIMA. The hanging loop is also retained. There do not appear to be any buttons missing on this set, with the buttons for the suspenders all present, though some may have been re-attached at some point. There are two diagonal waist slash pockets with button closures, and the usual small "watch pocket" to the right of the main closure. There is also a pocket on the right rear seat, as is usual. The bottoms of the legs feature button closures at the bottom on the cotton extensions, while the wool portions just above are laced up.
These are in lovely service used condition, with wear, some staining on the reinforcements, but otherwise they have held up well. There are some moth holes, but no major damage such as tears or repairs. Really a lovely set that would display nicely with any Heer Army Tunic!
Approximate Measurements:-
Waist: 19"
Inseam: 25"
