Original Items: Only One Set Available. This is a very nice collection of German WWII Luftwaffe Air Force Insignia, which was brought back from the European theater by a USGI after the war was concluded. Many solders traded these on the way back, and would end up with a pocket full of various different collectible items, and this set represents the typical "haul" one might have come back with. It includes a very nice variety of Luftwaffe insignia.
This lovely set includes:
- One German WWII Luftwaffe Fliegerschützenabzeichen für Bordfunker (Radio Operator/Airgunner's Badge) with the correct lightning bolts in the eagle's talons. This shows wear and past moth damage.
- TWO German WWII Luftwaffe Air Force Embroidered EM/NCO Cap Eagle for Hermann Göring Division Ground Personnel, featuring silver gray threading on a black background. The ground personnel of the division including Panzer Armored troops and airfield ground crew were issued black M43 field caps, fitted with these black cap eagles. Condition of both is very good, and they do not look like they have been installed on a cap before.
- One German WWII Luftwaffe Air Force Embroidered EM/NCO Breast Eagle, featuring silver gray threading on a Luftwaffe blue gray background. This shows light wear from service, and some mothing to the wool background. We cannot tell if this is uniform removed or not.
- One German WWII Luftwaffe Air Force Embroidered EM/NCO Cap Eagle, featuring silver gray threading on a Luftwaffe blue gray background. These were used on M38 overseas caps and early pattern M43 Field caps, while later caps had a combined insignia with a cockade. Condition is very good, and it does not look like it has been installed on a cap before.
- One German WWII Luftwaffe Air Signals Telephone Operator NCO Trade Badge (Luftnachrichtenpersonal mit Fernsprechprüfung Tätigkeitsabzeichen). The badge is in very good condition, with the colors well retained. It does not look to have been attached to a uniform previously, though there is some light moth damage to the front of the badge. The badge shows crossed "lightning bolts", and there is a twisted border around the edge, indicating it is for an NCO.
A wonderful totally genuine grouping perfect for a Luftwaffe Insignia collector. Ready to research and display!
