Original Item: Only One Available. Recently purchased at a militaria show, is this genuine USGI bring back German WWII NSDAP Small Double Sided Podium banner, which definitely looks to have seen a good amount of use. The National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, abbreviated NSDAP), commonly known in English as the NSDAP Party, was a political party in Germany between 1919 and 1945. It was known as the German Workers' Party (DAP) before the name was changed in 1920.
The party's last leader, Adolf AH, was appointed Chancellor of Germany by president Paul von Hindenburg in 1933. AH rapidly established a totalitarian regime known as the Third Reich.
The banner is double sided and of multi-piece construction, with black swas's (hook crosses) printed onto white circles (one piece) stitched onto both sides of the red cotton background. It has a "Gonfalon" shape with a rectangular body that turns triangular at the tip. There is a stitched on white canvas border on both sides, which goes around the entire edge of the banner. There is no white fringe on the bottom, but there are three small rope loops, which would have been used for fastening or for hanging weights that kept the banner relatively still. It measures 19"L x 14 1/2"W, and there looks to originally have been a header at the top, however it was cut open along its entire length.
The banner looks to have seen long use during the NSDAP period, with the colors now faded and age toned on both sides. There are some small holes and tears, as well as overall light staining from use.
A very nice example in an interesting shape with some great wear from service, ready to add to your collection!
