The Story

Original Item: Only One Available. Recently purchased at a militaria show, is this genuine USGI bring back German WWII NSDAP Podium banner. The National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, abbreviated NSDAP), commonly known in English as the NSDAP Party, was a political party in Germany between 1919 and 1945. It was known as the German Workers' Party (DAP) before the name was changed in 1920.

The party's last leader, Adolf AH, was appointed Chancellor of Germany by president Paul von Hindenburg in 1933. AH rapidly established a totalitarian regime known as the Third Reich.

The banner is single sided and of multi-piece construction, with a two piece black HBT swas (hook cross) sewn on on a white canvas circle (one piece), which is stitched onto the red cotton background. Around this is a stitched on HBT cotton square white border, and there is a also white rayon fringe sewn onto the bottom. It measures 28" x 23", not counting the fringe, and there is no hanger sleeve at the top. We assume it would be pinned in place or possibly placed in clips. We can see that in the past some type of adhesive was used on the rear of the corners.

The banner is offered in very good condition, looking to have seen only light use during the NSDAP period. The colors are however still very vibrant, with just a bit of age toning and speckled staining on the white portions. There are also some small stains on the back, which show through on the front a bit. The stitching is all secure, as far as we can tell.

A very nice lightly example, ready to add to your collection!
