Original German WWII Set of Four EM/NCO Belt Buckles - Aluminum Heer Army, Steel Luftwaffe, Aluminum Police, and Aluminum RAD

Original Items: Only One Set of 4 Available. Here we have a very nice set of four German WWII belt buckles, all in very good condition, with some showing wear from service. During the NSDAP period the number of different types of belt buckles used by the military and civic organizations rapidly increased, making them very popular items to collect for USGI's once the war was over. This represents the typical "haul" a buckle collector might have brought home after the war.

The first item in this set is a very nice service used condition German WWII Wehrmacht Heer Army EM/NCO's Belt Buckle (Koppelschloß), made from early war aluminum. The buckle is embossed with the Heer motto GOTT MIT UNS ("God (is) with us") inside a double rope border around a closed wing Wehrmachtadler (Armed Forces Eagle), with a partial oak leaf wreath at the bottom. Nice aluminum construction box buckle with a pebbled background. The buckle is in good condition, and is a single piece injection molded and crimped example. It does show surface wear, common due to the softer aluminum alloy, which has worn away the top of the eagle. This buckle was originally entirely painted standard Heer olive gray, and while this is worn on the front, the rear still still shows about 75%, and is maker marked by the clip hook with C.T.D. for the firm of Christian Theodor Dicke of Lüdenscheid.

The second item is a very good condition WWII German Wehrmacht Luftwaffe EM/NCO's Belt Buckle (Koppelschloß). It is embossed with the wartime Luftwaffe straight tail eagle surrounded by an oval laurel leaf wreath. The buckle is of 1940 pattern, die stamped, steel construction, with a Luftwaffe Fliegerblau (Flyer's Blue) dark blue/grey painted finish. This is very well retained, showing wear through only on the very raised areas of the front, and it is retained at over 90% on the rear. We were not able to see any maker marking, and it no longer has the a leather tab present.

The third buckle is a very nice WWII German Polizei (Police) NCO's Pebbled Aluminum Belt Buckle (Koppelschloß). It is embossed with a central swas (hook cross), with a wreath around it bearing the motto Gott mit uns (God [is] with us). It features a nice crimped pebbled aluminum body, which has an aluminum medallion insignia attached to the front. The retaining catch for the clip is stamped directly into the buckle. It is in very good condition, showing very little wear of any kind, and just a bit of oxidation in a few areas. There is no maker mark that we can see on the buckle.

The fourth and last buckle in the set is a WWII German Reichsarbeitsdienst (National Labor Service or RAD) EM/NCO's Aluminum Belt Buckle (Koppelschloß). The central RAD logo features five sheaves of wheat surrounding a shovel head with an embossed, canted, pebbled, swas on a textured circular central field. This is an early, injection molded, natural aluminum box buckle with a pebbled base field and a circular, embossed central motif. Later models used a stamped buckle with a separate logo. It is in very good condition, and is not maker marked, as we often see, as at this point the maker would usually be on a leather tab, which is absent.
