Original Items: Only One Set of Three Available. Here we have a very nice set of three NSDAP / SA armbands, which represent a good variety of different types that are encountered on the collector's market. Large numbers of these were brought back by USGIs after the war, and they seem to come in all shapes and sizes.
The National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, abbreviated NSDAP), commonly known in English as the NSDAP Party, was a political party in Germany between 1919 and 1945. It was known as the German Workers' Party (DAP) before the name was changed in 1920. The party's last leader, Adolf AH, was appointed Chancellor of Germany by president Paul von Hindenburg in 1933. AH rapidly established a totalitarian regime known as the Third Reich.
The first armband in this small collection is the typical type worn by party members in the NSDAP and SA, and was also worn by many service members and other personnel during the war. It features a red cotton band with the black swas and white circle directly embroidered to the band. Measures approximately 11 1/2" x 3 3/4", and is sewn together in the back. The inside still features the original RZM tag which is somewhat worn but still attached to the fabric. The tag has a correct “B” tax code and features the RZM logo as well as the ink stamped numerical designation of the hersteller (manufacturer) A4/849 over lot No. 278775. There is some overall staining and age toning, showing that it saw a good amount of use during the war.
The second armband is a lightweight printed cotton type, often seen used around the arms of overcoats. It is thinner than the typical uniform armbands, measuring 15 1/4" x 1 15/16", and is sewn together in the back.
The last armband is very similar to the previous example, however it is also stamped with NSDAP stamp on the left and Partei-Bereitschaft (Party Readiness) on the right of the swas insignia. It measures 16" x 2 3/8", most likely worn around an overcoat as well.
A great set of NSDAP armbands, ready to add to your collection, or to help start one!
