The Story
Original Items: Only One Set of Two Available. The Ehren-Chronik “Honor-Chronicle” was a photo album intended for members of the German Military for war related photos, keepsakes, documents etc. This were not just photo albums but also heavily illustrated remembrance books for those who completed their time of active duty for Germany during WWII. The Ehren-Chronik was published by order of the NSKOV (Nationalsozialistische Kriegsopferversorgung), the Third Reich organization which took care of the veterans. The albums measure about 12”H x 9"W, and have silver embossed 1939 Iron crosses on the front cover, with Ehren=Chronik at the bottom.
The first sections of the albums show pictures of AH, HG and other leaders of Germany during WWII. The books then go on to give descriptions of certain individuals and locations, along with various stories. Those pages are commercially printed and widely available photographs during that time and are not personal photographs. Following this are descriptions and information regarding the various awards that might be received, and after this are numerous pages to fill out with information regarding acquaintances and action during the war. Following this are pages for photographs, and afterwards there are many pages for the ancestry of the owner, part of the NSDAP obsession with genealogy and racial theory.
Both of these books look to have held photographs in the past, however they are both now empty, possibly with some pages of photos missing from the one secured with brass split pins. Neither book is filled out with a name, however the book secured with red cord is has NSDAP stamps and dates on the first page. A very interesting pair of "Honor Chronicles" from WWII, ready to research and display!
