The Story

Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is one of the most tremendous pieces of WWII German trench art we have offered. Anti-Aircraft Flak Battle Badge (German: Flak-Kampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe) was a World War II military decoration of NSDAP Germany. It was instituted on 10 January 1941 by Hermann Göring in his capacity as the Commander in Chief of the Luftwaffe. The badge was awarded to servicemen of the Flak artillery who distinguished themselves in action against enemy aerial or ground attacks.

This fantastic handmade brass Anti-aircraft flak badge sits atop a wreathed semi-circle atop a three-stepped mount. It measures roughly 8 x 4 x 7” and is in fantastic condition, weighing about 4lbs. It is inscribed on the bottom step:

Zur Erinnerung an den Ostfeldzug
Petersburg 1941/42 Krasnogwardeisk

In Memory of the Eastern Campaign
St. Petersburg 1941/42 Krasnogvardeysk

An outstanding piece of trench art, ready for further research and display!
