Original German WWII U.S. 89th Division Captured Cutoff German Banner with Capture Paperwork - 40 x 42”

Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a very worn cutoff swas from a large German banner, captured by Sergeant Raynold L. Kinseth Jr., Headquarters Battery, 563rd Field Artillery Battalion, 89th Infantry Division. The cuts are very uneven and frayed, but the entire piece measures roughly 40 x 42”, with the central swas having a 36” diameter.

The flag is heavily worn with one side showing staining and the other side showing a great many holes. Kinseth likely cut this from the banner himself after the fighting was over.

The captured paperwork is a 6 x 8½” page from the HQ Battery of the 563rd FA Battalion, and certifies that 1st Lieutenant Robert E. Sauchi has checked over the items and approved them for capture by Kinseth. It lists 1 German Flag, as well as pictures and booklets from Paris, France.

This is a great captured flag with provenance, perfect for research. This would look great in a frame with the paper. Comes ready for further research and display.
