Original Item. Only One Available. The Ukrainian Liberation Army (Ukrainian: Українське Визвольне Військо, УВВ; Ukrainske Vyzvolne Viysko, UVV) was an umbrella organization created in 1943, providing collective name for all Ukrainian units serving with the German Army during World War II. A single formation by that name did not exist. The designation was used by Ukrainian nationalists in reference to a number of companies and local Ostbataillonen of Hiwi volunteers desiring to free their own territories from the Soviet rule. They included enlisted Ukrainian prisoners of war (POWs) of the Red Army. The core of the Liberation Army wearing the УВВ sleeve badge (right, since 1945) originated from the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS (1st Ukrainian) reorganized in April 1945 into the Ukrainian National Army (UNA) active until the German surrender in May 1945.
This is a very interesting field-made cap worn by a member of the YBB. The cap is constructed in the style of the German M43 field cap with the “fold down” skirt for colder weather. It features a single button that secures the skirt, and even has the correct two rayon loops on the underside.
The front of the cap bears a great YBB cockade, attached via two prongs, but the stitching behind the badge is heavily torn away. The badge is still well-attached however.
There is some heavy mothing and damage to the material as shown, but it has held up well overall. There are no markings to the interior but there is heavy wear to the lining with some rust staining as well.
A very rare YBB field-made cap, ready for further research and display!
