The Story

Original Items: Only One Set Available. This is a very nice collection of German WWII "Tinnie" Event badges and Stickpins, which was brought back from the European theater by a USGI after the war was concluded. Many solders traded these on the way back, and would end up with a pocket full of various different collectible items, and this set represents the typical "haul" one might have come back with.

This grouping contains the following Tinnies and stickpins that we were able to identify:

- TWO TAG DER ARBEIT Tinnies, both dated 1935, but by different makers. These were for the annual labor day celebration in NSDAP Germany.

- THREE 1 MAI Tinnies, dated 1936, 1937, and 1939. These celebrated May Day / Labor Day in NSDAP germany.

- ONE 1935 Deutsches Jugenfest (German Youth Festival) HJ Tinny.

- One Small NSDAP Stickpin

- One DRL Sports Association Stickpin

- One SA-Wehrmannschaft Defense Team Sports Training Stickpin

- One VDK Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge (German War Graves Commission) Stickpin

- One NSV National Socialist People’s Welfare Organization Membership Stickpin

- One DAF Labor Front Stickpin Head (pin missing)

- One Reichstag Stickpin

There are four tinnies / insignia that were were unfortunately unable to identify, and leave these as a lovely research project for the future owner.

Please consult the pictures for further details on markings and condition.

A great little set that could be the start of your collection!

"Tinnies" (Veranstaltungsabzeichen - Event Badges) are small commemorative pins or medals, acquired when one attended a specific event held in Germany. They were often made of thin stamped metal, bakelite, or even pressed paper. Many of these were given out as part of the WHW (Winterhilfswerk - Winter Help Work) Organization, which often involved Germans traveling quite a bit to help out the war effort. Many others were given for the annual Reichsparteitag (Reich Party Congress), otherwise known as the Nuremberg Rallies.
