The Story

Original Item. Only One Available. This is a scarce piece to find in any condition, an original World War I sniper scope for the German Gewehr 98 bolt-action rifle. All wartime German sniper scopes had the rifle number engraved onto the scope body. This example retains its body engravings:

B3x
Dr. Walter Gerard
Charlottenburg
Gew. 4083Z

This scope still has a clear optic, although it appears very far away, but the scope is missing all of the parts for mounting on a rifle.

The scope measures 9 ⅞” long and retains the adjustment dial. The scope may need some work before it can function properly.

The scope comes in the original leather case, which is in rough condition with the bottom piece missing the majority of its stitching, and the straps are broken. The interior of the case is stamped 1901 / 3. The case looks well enough for display.

A lovely example, the first we have offered. Ready for display.
