The Story
Original Item: Only One Available. This German Military bugle is of all brass construction with nickel silver fittings, typical of German brass instruments. This example is dated 1915, and witnessed the majority of the First World War. There is very heavy denting across the bugle, especially in the tubing, but both suspension rings are intact. It comes complete with its original mouthpiece which appears seized in place.
The German Silver bell krantz is in rough condition with staining and denting.
The Prussian Arms in an Oval shield displays a Spread Eagle wearing a Crown with F.R. to center, with the eagle carrying a Sword and a Scepter in either claw. This is soldered onto the bell as standard. The bugle is stamped under the Prussian arms:
1915
JUL HEINR.
ZIMMERMAN
LEIPZIG
This bugle is one of the rougher examples we have seen, but is certainly a battle-torn example. It looks to be made entirely of seamed brass tubing, but there is very heavy denting.
A romantic item from the terrible First World War, ready to display.
