Original Items: Only One Available. This is a very nice service used armband from the Baden Jugendwehr (Baden Youth Defense Force), as issued to youth helpers during WWI. It is of multi-piece construction, with black, white, and red fabric stitched together, and Bad. Jugendwehr is printed on the central white stripe. These youth units were in many ways predecessors to the HJ National Youth organization, as they continued post-war into the Weimar period, often associated with one of the many Freikorps groups. As the idea of youth being used as part of a paramilitary organization was not new, it made it easier for the NSDAP to grow their own youth group.
The armband is in nice "salty" service used condition, showing fading, staining, and small tears to the exterior side, while the interior side retains the colors much better. It definitely looks to have seen extensive service during WWI. It measures approximately 12" x 3 3/4", though it does look to have been taken in at some point to make it a bit smaller.
