The Story

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very good, near excellent condition genuine WWII issue Japanese rubberized face mask, with metal rimmed lenses. The filter can has a wonderful paper label with instructions still attached. There are also markings stamped into the top of the can, one of which is 昭 1 8, for the 18th year of the Showa era, or 1943. There is also a maker mark.

The rubberized canvas mask is still fully intact, but it is stiff. There is a bit of cracking around the very edge, but otherwise it is quite flexible, with even the eye defogging tubes being springy.

Inside on the left side the mask is maker mark different front the filter, marked with 昭 but no number, so we can’t identify the year. The straps are all present and in good condition, though only one is still stretchy, as the rubber has degraded. Both eyepieces have had the anti-fog inserts degrade, but can still be seen through for the most part.

A very nice example of a Japanese Gas mask in great shape, dated 1943 and ready to display!
