The Story
Original Item. One-of-a-Kind. This is a very scarce Imperial Japanese medical supply trunk in very rough condition with a name and address on one side which could be a send-home address for a soldier or added later. The number 6 is painted on both sides and on the top of the lid next to now unreadable kanji. The paint loss is very heavy.
The trunk measures 27 x 13 ¾ x 14 ¼” and is missing the latch to the front, but both leather carrying straps are still attached, although very stiff. The red cross insignia is heavily worn but still retained on most sides of the trunk, and both sides retain their painted 6 well.
The interior shows wear with the lid pouch still in place along with its securing straps. The contents label is heavily worn but mostly intact. The only content is a glider model in its original sleeve, with an old tag.
A great display piece for any Japanese collection.
