Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice enlisted pattern Japanese SNLF canteen with cotton cover and a screw-off aluminum cap. It comes complete with its adjustable canvas shoulder strap, and chain cap retainer.
It is in very good condition overall, with complete and correct WWII features, including the aluminum cap that doubles as a cup, with the retaining chain attached to a triangular slider on the strap. Sadly, the original rubber gasket which held the canteen cap in place likely melted or fell apart years ago. However, this does not detract from the outward appearance of the canteen. The cover is well-inscribed in white with Kanji characters which translated as Hogosan, however this is likely not accurate. The bottom of the canteen has a maker’s mark for OSAKA.
