Original Italian WWII Repubblica Sociale Italiana RSI German Puppet State Tenente Colonnello Uniform Jacket & Trousers

Original Item. Only One Set Available. The Italian Social Republic (Italian: Repubblica Sociale Italiana or RSI), known prior to December 1943 as the National Republican State of Italy, but more popularly known as the Republic of Salò, was a German puppet state with limited diplomatic recognition that was created during the latter part of World War II. It was a collaborationist regime in German-occupied Italy, established after the German invasion of Italy in September 1943 and disbanded with the surrender of Axis troops in Italy in May 1945. The German occupation triggered widespread national resistance against it and the Italian Social Republic during the liberation of Italy and the Italian civil war.

This is a very scarce uniform set for an officer, namely a Tenente Colonnello or Lieutenant Colonel, serving under the RSI. The uniform has two black collar patches with small pins depicting a sword labeled ITALIA with a wreath around it, the insignia of the RSI. Both cuffs have great period-stitched gilt tape ranks for the rank of Tenente Colonnello or Lieutenant Colonel.

The interior of the jacket has some markings, a 3 over 3 over a boxed maker’s logo which is now too worn to read, over 10.

The trousers are in much worse condition with heavy mothing damage along its length, with black stripes on each side. Thankfully the jacket does not have nearly as much moth damage. 

A very scarce RSI Officer’s uniform set, ready for further research and display.
