Original Japanese WWII 15 x 3° Rabbit Ear Periscope with Level & Tripod in Original Cases

Original Item. Only One Available. This is a genuine WWII set of Japanese "Rabbit Ear" Periscope binoculars with its level and tripod, all complete in their original cases. They are marked 15 x 3° and No. 2469 with a Japanese maker’s mark that we are unable to identify, making for a great research project. The optics of the periscope are quite worn and unclear.

The periscope itself comes in a large leather case which also contains the level in a separate compartment. The case is in rough shape, with the carrying straps broken, and the piece that covers the level is starting to lose its stitching. The interior lid still retains both of the “sun shields” which could be attached to the eyepieces to make the view clearer. There are very faded Kanji markings stamped into the bottom of the case.

The tripod comes in a canvas carrying case which still retains its canvas carrying strap however it has broken off of one side. There are very faded Kanji markings on the interior of this case, with one being discernable as the logo for Nagoya Arsenal, a well-known maker of wartime equipment. 

The top of the tripod connects to the level, which then connects to the periscope. When the entire set is put together, it measures roughly 55” tall, with each of the three legs roughly 34” long when fully extended. The set displays very well and would fit well into any WWII collection. The only serious issues are the leather straps having fallen off of the carrying case, and the optics being a bit unclear, but these can be remedied.
