The Story
Original Item: Only One Available. Constructed of a rich medium brown leather, this helmet is offered in excellent condition. It is made of 8 separate pieces of leather, with a 5 pointed Japanese Army Star on the front. The interior is fur lined, the fur is soft and in wonderful condition. The rigid ear cups are complete, and made of hardened leather, each having holes in the center for mounting the communication equipment and receivers.
This example still retains its avionics with the leather-covered cord still protruding from the back. There are wool pads inserted into each ear, likely for comfort. The interior of one ear cup is marked 昭 十 七 製 which means SHOWA 17 MANUFACTURED for production in 1942. All straps are fully functional, all the buckles and tabs work perfectly.
The lining is very comfortable and is still in good condition overall. The red star to the front looks great too. The avionics is marked with a 20 V stamp.
A wonderful set that will fit well in any WWII Japanese collection. Comes ready for further research and display.
