Original Japanese WWII Model 94 Mark 5 Wireless Receiver Mark 32 with Intact Leather Flaps

Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very rare Japanese WWII Model 94 Mark 5 Wireless Receiver Mark 32, which would have originally been paired with a Transmitter Mark 32. The receiver is in fair condition with some paint loss, but all leather flaps are still retained, very rare to see on these as the leather often dry-rotted away from contact against the metal. The receiver may have originally had straps attached to its handles for use as a backpack, but we can’t find any reference to this.

The entire receiver measures roughly 9 x 6 x 8½”. The top of the receiver still retains its original data plate, as well as the Military Secret plate found on all Japanese radios of the era. The data plate translates to:

When the leather flaps are opened, opening the tab at the top will open the receiver panel. We have found a period graphic online which translates what each dial does. We were able to find a period U.S. manual for the operation of this device, which helped us realize that this is meant to be paired with a smaller transmitter. The manual can be found here.

This is an extraordinarily scarce piece of WWII equipment, the first Japanese signal receiver we’ve ever offered. Comes ready for further research and display.
