Original Japanese WWII Civilian “Papercloth” Forage Cap with Chinstrap - Nearly Identical to Military Issue

Original Items. Very Few Available. We are offering a great selection of unissued civilian forage caps which display very similarly to Imperial Japanese Army forage caps. They are made of a very coarse cloth, which looks to be very similar to the "papercloth" used on WWI German "Ersatz" canteen covers. They are not soft, and the interior is made of the same material woven differently. The sweatband looks to be pressed paper faux leather, as does the chin strap on the front of the cap. Each cap retains their chinstrap and sweatband, with some having a civilian label inside.

The interiors only appear to bear a size marking, with most appearing to be 大, for large.

Some have heavy wear to the interior, and many of the pressed paper chinstraps are starting to bend or fray. These were never military accepted and are therefore just civilian caps, a good placeholder until you find an IJA example.
