The Story
Original Item: One of a Kind. Just purchased from a private collector, this would make a fantastic addition to any German WWII vehicle collection. This began life as a West German 98cc motorcycle, very similar to modern mopeds, but was then repainted and made to look very much like a German WWII Courier motorcycle. It was fitted with replica license plates marked WH - 8676 for Wehrmacht Heer (Army), which even have replicated depot stamps on them. It also has had a "blackout" style lens added to the front of the headlamp, which really helps complete the look. It measures 76" in overall length, with an approximate height of 36".
We were not able to determine who the original manufacturer of the motorcycle was, however it definitely has a West German 98cc engine by Fichtel & Sachs, which still has the original data plate (very faded) giving the engine serial number as 111913. This company supplied 98cc engines to many makers, which pretty much all used the same frame, just different types of fenders and other appointments.
We do not know the last time that this motorcycle was able to run, and it is being sold purely for display purposes. The gas tank looks to have had a hole in the top, now covered with BONDO, and it also looks to be missing many of the controls. The rubber components such as the tires and handgrips are in relic condition, literally falling apart.
