The Story

Original Item: Only One Available. This full scale rubber replica non-firing prop gun as used in the 1994 Hollywood film Escape from LA. Escape from L.A. is the 1996 sequel to 1981's Escape from New York. John Carpenter returned as director and Kurt Russell stars once again as Snake Plissken, who is sent into the prison island of Los Angeles to retrieve a device stolen by the daughter of the President of the United States that is the key to activating a powerful doomsday weapon.

This all rubber example was acquired from the Ellis Props and Graphics liquidation auction. Ellis was the oldest and the largest Prop House in California until its liquidation auctions in late 1999 and early 2000. Unfortunately there is no longer an auction label tag present. This example is based on a Galil Model 372. There is heavy wear, and the front sight is entirely missing from the rifle. Otherwise it is in fair condition.

The IMI Galil is a family of Israeli-made automatic rifles chambered for the 5.56Ă—45mm NATO and 7.62Ă—51mm NATO cartridges. Originally designed by Yisrael Galili and Yakov Lior in the late 1960s, the Galil was first produced by the state-owned Israel Military Industries and is now exported by the privatized Israel Weapon Industries.

The first Galil rifle was manufactured using RK 62 receivers. Moreover, the Galil design is largely based on the Finnish rifle RK 62 (itself a derivative of the AK-47). The Galil family of weapons is used by both military and police forces across 25 countries.

The Israeli Army initially deployed the 5.56Ă—45mm NATO Galil in three basic configurations; the Automatic Rifle Machine-gun (ARM), the Automatic Rifle (AR), and the Short Automatic Rifle (SAR). A modern version of the Galil currently in production in multiple calibers is known as the Galil ACE.

This is a great piece of film history and a very iconic gun, ready for further research and display.
