Original Item. Only One Available. This is a lovely signed print of “The Point” by Larry Selman. This example is almost certainly numbered, but the framers decided to cover that part up, so we cannot say what the number is. The print depicts U.S. Army Rangers attacking and capturing Pointe du Hoc by scaling the cliffs while fighting on the beach continued around them. The print is signed by Leonard Lomell who was a participating ranger in this operation. LEONARD LOMELL (1920-2011) United States Army Ranger inducted into the Ranger Hall of Fame, recipient of the Distinguished Service Cross, British Military Medal, French Legion d'honneur, Silver Star, and Bronze Star.
The frame measures 27 1/4 x 39 1/4” and is in great shape. This is a very professional frame aside from the fact that they covered up Selman’s signature and the number.
Leonard G. Lomell, Born, 1920 and adopted by Scandinavian parents he was drafted into the army in June of 1942. He quickly rose in rank as a member of the 76th division. He attended Ranger training and was among the 60 who graduated the rigorous training. Accepting a promotion to First Sergeant in D Co. 2nd Ranger Battalion. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his action in taking out the guns. After the war distinguished himself as a prominent lawyer in Toms River, NJ.
This would look great in any WWII Collection. Comes ready for further research and display.
