Original Item: Only One Available. This is a wonderful, rather rare WWII Soviet leather flight jacket. This was a versatile jacket amongst Soviet troops and identical ones were popular attire for the NKVD. The jacket has no military markings but has a 1930’s dated tag on the interior to a maker in Moscow, and is the correct style for pilots & aircrew of the era. The jacket does show use and wear, but is in overall good condition.
The Soviet Air Forces were one of the air forces of the Soviet Union. The other was the Soviet Air Defence Forces. The Air Forces were formed from components of the Imperial Russian Air Service in 1917, and faced their greatest test during World War II. The groups were also involved in the Korean War, and dissolved along with the Soviet Union itself in 1991–92. Former Soviet Air Forces' assets were subsequently divided into several air forces of former Soviet republics, including the new Russian Air Force. "March of the Pilots" was its song.
The jacket retains its belt as well as a maker’s tag on the interior:

The last digit of the year is handwritten, and appears as 0, but could possibly be 8, for 1938. The jacket appears to retain its buttons and its original lining. It has matured to a very dark brown.
This is a lovely coat with lots of character, worthy of further research. Comes ready to display!
